The Allen Stone Memorial Run first began in 1999 as the ?Brace Heart Run-Swim-Run.? Allen Stone, a Virginia Beach Navy SEAL, competed in the first race and won in his age category. Shortly after the race, he died in a SEAL training accident. The race was renamed to honor Stone?s bravery and service to his nation. All donations from the event go to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation and the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
